Illustration Mundo was featuring an illustration by Ronald Kurniawan today so I checked his web site and stumbled upon a few of his beautiful sketches. It must be the perfect storm -his site was also featured in the UK version of Web Designer which I picked up last week in London.
And while I am at it shamelessly writing about discoveries made on Illustration Mundo, check out Mark Brown which they also featured recently.
Now if you want to see illustrations that will make you happy and nostalgic while triggering that strange longing you have since you were a kid for miniatures and puppets, you have to read Chris Sickels blog. Wonderful.
This month’s issue of Web Designer is featuring the web site of Silke Werzinger. It’s a great one to browse through -ballpoint illustrations galore, organic feel to the whole thing and what looks like a seamless transition from personal work / visual obsessions or discoveries to commercial illustration -meaning it doesn’t look that commercial at all. Great stuff.
Two artists and illustrators I stumbled upon this week-end via some of the illustration blogs I follow. I particularly like Liza Corbett’s animal drawings and the colors / light in Rory Kurtz’s workd; here are two illustrations for each. Click on the images to enlarge.
Two beautiful images from Garry Winograd that are on display at Yancey Richardson in New York. His eye is unmatched; I love every single one of his compositions, captured through chance encounters as he directed his Leica to the passersby and crowds he crossed path with. Just imagine what he would have done with a digital autofocus camera -or maybe not?

Mimi S. paints women of mystery and seduction. They are reverse pin-ups, drawn by a women and looking back at us with both stares that are more evaluative than suggestive.
A Berlin painter, she is represented by the Strychnin Gallery.
