Two artists and illustrators I stumbled upon this week-end via some of the illustration blogs I follow. I particularly like Liza Corbett’s animal drawings and the colors / light in Rory Kurtz’s workd; here are two illustrations for each. Click on the images to enlarge.

Two more pages of “Drowning in Venice”. The main character washes out to shore after a near drowning. Ink and watercolor on paper, 11″ x 17″ inch. I really like the brushwork on that hair… I got it from a $0.50 brush too… must do more of that on the next few pages!

Drowning in Venice Page 10
I just finished inking this page -15 to go I believe. A three panel sequence with the main character fading out -always a sure sign that something bad and/or surprising is going to happen.

The drawing is complete with messy splatter that I think I’ll keep for the final version.

Inked Magazine coverI am starting a series of portraits of tattooed women and came across this amazing cover from Warwick Saint for Inked magazine at the newsstand. The notion of inking over a cover of Inked became appealing enough that I did the following drawings / collages over the week-end.

Ink, Ink and watercolor over prints on photographic paper, 8.5″ x 11″
