Masks from Venice by Jean Tripier
More from Venice.. this is one of the endpapers for “Drowning in Venice”. The quote is from Haruki Murakami, from his book “Kafka on the shore”. This is one book that would make a wonderful graphic novel, if only one had the time to illustrate it.

I have a tiny collection of masks from Japan, China, Indonesia, Korea and Mexico, but couldn’t get around to buying one in Venice as they are mostly cheap knockoffs of things past. Drawing them is OK though, as I get to remove all the sparkles and synthetic feathers.
