Drowning in Venice by Jean Tripier
Here are two drawings from a recent trip to Venice. The first one I am using for the cover of an art narrative that will be posted on this site in a few weeks; both drawings are ink on paper 11″ x 17″. The story itself is a parallel between the fate of Venice as it is invaded by the Acqua Alta -the high tides that sink the city every few years- and that of the woman shown on the cover.

I am experimenting with a new paper for this story, and enjoying it so far. It is the standard paper used by comic artists in the US -Strathmore 500 Bristol, Plate- and not suited whatsoever for wet media but that is leading to unpredictable results that I enjoy combining with the tighter ink drawings it enables.
